Reducing the risk of performance management

This general session will teach participants how to have difficult conversations and avoid litigation when it comes to handling problem employees and terminating employees effectively and legally.

10:30 a.m.

Breakout 1: Managing the interplay between ADA, FMLA and WC

During this session discuss workplace challenges with managing ADA, FMLA and WC. Plus, learn what employer liability insurance covers and situations that will not be covered. You have the choice between attending breakout 1 or breakout 2 at this time.

10:30 a.m.

Breakout 2: Managing legal and regulatory claims

During this breakout session, attendees will discuss what violations are on the regulatory radar such as DOL, EEO, NLRB, OSHA, whistleblowers and state versus federal claims. You have the choice between attending breakout 1 or breakout 2 at this time.

11:30 a.m.

Enjoy lunch while networking among fellow attendees.

12:30 p.m.

The epidemic of sexual harassment claims

We all know sexual harassment claims are on the rise. With this session, we will explain what types of claims are most prevalent in our region. Get tips to avoid a bungled investigation and ways to fumigate a toxic workplace.

Breakout 3: Medical marijuana and substance abuse in the workplace

During this breakout session, attendees will explore the legal issues and affect that medical marijuana utilization has on workers' compensation claims. In addition, best practices will be shared for employer drug polices and the difference between drug “use” versus impairment. You have the choice between attending breakout 3 or breakout 4 at this time.

Breakout 4: Managing the employee benefits landscape

During this breakout session, attendees will explore the latest changes to the Affordable Care Act and what the future holds for budgeting and cost containment. You will learn about the DOL health plan audits and the nuts and bolts of ERISA welfare plan. You have the choice between attending breakout 3 and breakout 4 at this time.

3:00 p.m.

Closing: Wrap-up and evaluations

We will end the day with a few closing comments and ask attendees to fill out evaluation forms prior to departure. You are welcome to join us at CRAVE for cocktails following the conference.
